We’ve got a mission that can’t be ignored: it’s time to #ShutDownAttica. It’s been nearly a half-century since the deadly attack on Attica on September 1971, leaving 43 lives lost and a dark mark on New York State’s history. These lives were tragically taken under the orders of NYS Governor Nelson Rockefeller, carried out by NYS Troopers.
ReWork the Bay envisions an equitable Bay Area where everyone has access to quality, empowered jobs that allow them to benefit from and shape the region’s growing economy. We believe it should be possible for everyone to live full lives with security, dignity and agency in our work, home and communities.
We empower and organize low-income, people of color to build healthy communities for all.
It is well-documented that some of the most polluted environments in America are where people of color live, work, play, and pray. WE ACT was started in 1988 when three fearless community leaders saw that environmental racism was rampant in their West Harlem neighborhood, and they demanded community-driven, political change. Today, the organization has grown to over 16 staff members and 2 locations in NYC and Washington, D.C., and is considered an active and respected participant in the national Environmental Justice Movement.
At Drive Change our mission is to support formerly incarcerated young people, and create quality employment pathways to ensure their economic and emotional wellbeing. We work to create systemic change and sustainable impact through unapologetically reimagining what’s possible for the food and hospitality industry.
