About our CEO

Yanira Castro

CEO, Humanity Communications Collective
Yanira Castro (she/her/hers) is a communications professional with 20 years of experience of all aspects of communications. After a life-shifting trip to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which was awarded to her by Outdoor Afro, she knew that there was more she could do to tell untold stories.
Three years ago, she left the corporate world behind and started Humanity Communications Collective to focus on her passions  – inspiring people with stories of social justice that transcends industries.
During this time, Yanira, and her carefully curated and handpicked team, have generated stories on CBS This Morning, ABC News, 60 Minutes, O, The Oprah Magazine (where she herself was featured), and many others. The team is also highly focused on digital engagement and storytelling by reminding people to embrace technology in a way that focuses on people’s humanity.
Whether she is working with the local attorney turned winemaker or working with well-known celebrities on social media campaigns, Yanira gives the same drive and expertise to each project. Select clients over the past year include Outdoor Afro, She the People, The National Wildlife Federation, and The Solutions Project.

Yanira loves to stay engaged and celebrate joy, whether that be with her partner of 20 years, one of her four children or her extended friends and family.
